Deanna Teague
Deanna Teague is entering her fourteenth year teaching in Los Alamos Public Schools. She came to LAPS in 1999 teaching general music at Mountain Elementary then became the assistant band director in 2000. Prior to LAPS, she taught at Stephen F. Austin Elementary in Slaton, TX. From 2004 – 2016, Mrs. Teague was a stay-at-home mom and enjoyed the time with her two boys.
In December 1998, Mrs. Teague received her Bachelor of Music Education from Texas Tech University in Lubbock, TX, where she studied under Margaret Redcay, Keith Bearden, and Jim Sudduth. While attending Texas Tech, Mrs. Teague was a member of the Texas Tech Wind Ensemble, University Symphony, and the Goin’ Band from Raiderland.
At the Los Alamos Middle School, Mrs. Teague directs the Symphonic, Co-Teaches Concert Band, and Hawk/Intro Band. Mrs. Teague, also assists with the Topper Marching Band. In addition to the middle school, Mrs. Teague also teaches 5th and 6th grade bands at Aspen, and Mountain Elementary Schools. Mrs. Teague’s bands consistently receive Superior or Excellent awards at the North Central District Music Performance Assessment. In April 2023 and April 2024, the LAMS Symphonic band won State for the New Mexico Middle School Concert Band State competition.
In her free time, she enjoys playing the flute. She regularly participates in the Los Alamos Symphonic Orchestra during the Winter and Spring concerts. She has also performed with Santa Fe Flute Choir, Los Alamos Flute Choir, and the Santa Fe Community Orchestra in the past.
Mrs. Teague is an active member of Nafme, New Mexico Music Educators Association, and Texas Bandmasters Association.
Mrs. Teague enjoys inspiring young musicians to perform at their very best by sharing her joy of music every day. She feels blessed to have a supportive family, band directors, mentors across the country, and friends that have encouraged her throughout her career.
